Amon-Ra St. Brown Breaks Silence On Jared Goff “Disconnection” Rumors Following His Worst Game

Detroit Lions star receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown opened up about the surprising lack of chemistry with quarterback Jared Goff after what he described as one of the most frustrating performances of his NFL career. Despite being targeted 12 times, St. Brown hauled in only two receptions — an uncharacteristic showing for one of the league’s most reliable pass catchers.

Speaking candidly on his podcast, St. Brown said, “It was just one of those games where it didn’t feel like we were on the same page. The opportunities were there, but we just didn’t connect.”

He admitted the performance stung more than usual because of how drive-killing the misfires felt.

He also pointed to key moments that could have shifted the game’s momentum, saying, “We had a fourth down we should’ve hit. There were plays to be made. It just wasn’t happening.”

Goff didn’t dodge accountability, openly acknowledging that the off-day fell more on him than his star receiver.

The Lions quarterback said, “I was off. Plain and simple. Trying to get him the ball, I wasn’t good enough. I have to be more accurate.” Goff stressed that their chemistry remains strong overall, but admitted this particular outing was “below the standard.”

Despite the rough performance, St. Brown reiterated his confidence in Goff, while still emphasizing the need for sharper execution.

“Me and Jared trust each other. That’s not the issue,” he explained. “But trust doesn’t replace accuracy. We both know we have to be better.”

The disappointing showing has led to questions about whether the duo’s connection is slipping, but both players insisted it was an isolated setback. For St. Brown, the focus now is on bouncing back quickly.

“You can’t stay stuck in a game like that,” he said. “We know what we’re capable of. Now we just have to show it.”
