Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills played their Week 12 game on Thursday, losing to the Houston Texans 16-9. The star signal-caller went viral after the game, but for the wrong reason, as he reached an unwanted career high of being sacked eight times.
The Texans defense really punished Allen, who failed to throw for a touchdown and was intercepted twice. He connected 24 of his 34 passes for 253 yards and also rushed five times for 20 yards, but he simply couldn’t find his way past Houston’s No. 1 defense.
Buffalo dropped to 7-4 on the season as a result, with many fans also raising doubts about Allen’s ability to lead the Bills.
Despite the latest setback, however, it didn’t stop Allen from enjoying his day off. In fact, on Saturday, he turned a lot of heads after he attended his jersey retirement ceremony with the University of Wyoming alongside his now-wife, Hollywood actress Hailee Steinfeld.
Allen had his No. 17 jersey retired at halftime of Wyoming’s game against Nevada, and he was joined by his parents, Joel and Lavonne, on the field for the ceremony.
During the game, Allen was spotted sitting beside his wife, and their moment quickly drew the attention of fans and viewers alike.
Bleacher Report’s video of the moment between Allen and Steinfeld has been viewed over 2.8 million times already, and many couldn’t help but comment on how successful the Bills QB is in both his personal and professional life.
“How many players retire a jersey and get a Hollywood star moment at the same time?” a commenter wrote. Another one said, “Oh honey, look at that sweet Wyoming boy all grown up and getting his jersey retired, that made this old heart swell! And Miss Hailee right there on his arm, pretty as a peach in her brown and gold. Y’all are just darling together.”
“Man… seeing Josh get his flowers with Hailee right beside him is BEAUTIFUL. What a moment,” a fan added.
“In the glow of a jersey forever retired, Josh Allen and Hailee Steinfeld share a quiet, perfect moment, proof that some victories are won not just on the field, but in heart,” a supporter remarked.
A fifth follower stated, “Sharing that moment with Hailee Steinfeld at his side is the extra sprinkle of sweetness nobody asked for but everyone needed. Big milestone, big love, big ‘awww’ energy.”
Allen is a lucky man, indeed.
