Saquon Barkley Throws Shade At Kevin Patullo With “Nonexistent” Remark Following Brutal Game Vs. Cowboys

Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley didn’t sugarcoat his struggles after another rough outing in his team’s loss to the Cowboys. Barkley called this season “kind of non-existent,” admitting he feels he hasn’t made the kind of impact he did last year.

After being limited to just 22 yards on 10 carries, Barkley acknowledged he’s in a slump.

“I’ve been kind of nonexistent this year,” he said, emphasizing his frustration not with teammates or opponents, but with himself. He pointed out that the running game starts and ends with him. “I’m in a little funk right now. I’ve had funks like this before — just got to break it.”

Barkley also pushed back on the idea that opposing defenses are the main reason for his dip.

“I’m not getting the run game going. I’m not getting yards,” he said. “I’m tired of the excuse of people trying to stop the run game … I don’t really subscribe to that. Just got to be better, got to make plays.”

Despite the self-criticism, he expressed confidence that he will “get it right” and insisted he’s healthy — signaling that his struggles aren’t injury-related.

“I’ve got to figure it out for the team,” he said, showing a willingness to shoulder blame and fight his way out of this slump.

Barkley’s honesty has raised eyebrows in Philadelphia, especially given that fans and analysts have started to question whether part of the issue lies not just with his performance, but with how he’s being used under offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo. While Barkley didn’t call anyone out by name, his frustration with the run game and his blunt assessment of his own role felt like a shot across the bow — a challenge not just to himself, but to the system around him.

If Barkley is serious about bouncing back, he’ll need to do it fast — both for his own season and for a running game that’s on shaky ground.
