Drake Maye, Patriots Make History Not Seen in Tom Brady Era

New England Patriots QB Drake Maye.

Drake Maye and the New England Patriots not only extended their winning streak to 10 on Monday night, but they also accomplished a historic feat that the franchise had not even achieved during the Tom Brady era.

The Patriots took down the New York Giants, 33-15, with Maye throwing for 282 yards and two touchdowns on 24-of-31 passing. He also rushed six times for 12 yards in a dominant showing that saw them lead from start to finish.

Jaxson Dart had one passing touchdown for the Giants, while running back Devin Singletary added one score on the ground. However, they simply couldn’t get anything going offensively to mount a comeback after trailing 17-0 in the first quarter.

New England added more to its lead in the second quarter and was already up 30-7 by the end of the half.

With the win, the Patriots made history for the longest streak with more than 23 points scored and 23 or less points allowed. Amid their winning run, the opponents that have scored at least 20 points against them number only four: the Buffalo Bills, Atlanta Falcons, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Cincinnati Bengals.

To make things even better for the Patriots, the NFL noted that the last two teams to have such a streak of eight or more games went on to win the Super Bowl.

It remains to be seen if the Patriots will be able to follow suit, but sure enough, they are certainly on the right track.

The Patriots improved to 11-2 on the season with their latest victory, putting them back at the top of the AFC.
