Steph Curry Loses Exclusive Spot in Warriors History

Golden State Warriors star Steph Curry and Draymond Green.

Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry is no longer alone in one specific franchise record.

Before Tuesday’s game against the Oklahoma City Thunder, Curry was the only Warrior to ever play at least 900 regular season games with the franchise. Now, his longtime teammate Draymond Green has joined him in the exclusive club.

The showdown with the Thunder marked Green’s 900th career game with the Warriors. Golden State announced the development on social media as it celebrated the milestone.

“With tonight’s game, Draymond Green joins Stephen Curry as the only players in franchise history to reach 900 career regular-season games with the Dubs,” the Warriors wrote.

Golden State is the only team that Green has ever known since arriving in the NBA some 13 years ago. He was selected by the Warriors in the second round (35th overall) of the 2012 NBA Draft and eventually established himself as a key part of the franchise.

Green is a four-time All-Star and a one-time Defensive Player of the Year once. He has also been one of the best defenders in the NBA over the past 10-plus years, as proven by his nine NBA All-Defensive Team selections.

It’s worth noting that Curry has already played 1,042 games in his Warriors career, at least at the time of this writing. As for Green, he is well on track to join Curry in the 1,000-game club for the Dubs, especially if he’s able to stay healthy and play next season as well.

No other active player is close to Curry and Green’s record, with Chris Mullin third on the list for most games played with the Warriors, at 807. Former Golden State sharpshooter Klay Thompson is fourth with 793.
