Indiana Fever Star Sophie Cunningham Reacts to Major Google News

Indiana Fever guard Sophie Cunningham.

Sophie Cunningham had quite the memorable season with the Indiana Fever in 2025. Not only did she establish herself as a key member of the team — averaging 8.6 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game — but she also rose in popularity as she developed a reputation as the squad’s enforcer.

To recall, Cunningham avenged teammate Caitlin Clark during a game against the Connecticut Sun back in June. After Jacy Sheldon poked Clark in the eye and Sun teammate Marina Mabrey shoved the Fever star to the ground, Cunningham made sure to get back at their rivals.

In the fourth quarter, Cunningham grabbed Sheldon by the head and pushed her down, which led to a fight.

While Cunningham was ejected, it only made Fever fans love her even more, with her Instagram followers increasing by 300,000 and her TikTok followers quadrupling from 300,000 to 1.2 million, per Indianapolis Star.

As her fame exploded, it also led to more people searching for her, so much so that she became the most-searched WNBA player of 2025 in the U.S on Google. That’s right, she even beat Clark and other equally popular WNBA players such as Angel Reese and Paige Bueckers.

Cunningham is also the only female athlete on the list led by Cleveland Browns QB Shedeur Sanders.

After Cunningham learned about the news, she shared a post about her achievement on Instagram and reacted to it.

“hi boys,” Cunningham wrote.

For what it’s worth, Cunningham has taken great advantage of her newfound fame, launching her own podcast and landing several endorsement deals.
