Real Reason for Anthony Davis’ Scary Exit During Mavericks Game

Dallas Mavericks coach Jason Kidd speaks out on Anthony Davis' injury.

Anthony Davis’ night with the Dallas Mavericks came to an abrupt end on Thursday.

The 10-time All-Star was productive against the Utah Jazz, finishing with 21 points on 10-of-20 shooting while adding 11 rebounds, four assists, a steal and a block. Davis logged 35 minutes before he was forced to leave late in the fourth quarter due to a hand injury. The Mavs big man did not return.

Dallas ended up losing 116-114, which put an end to the team’s two-game winning streak. The loss pushed the Mavericks to 14-24 on the season, keeping them 11th in the Western Conference standings.

Anthony Davis’ Injury Details

The concerning moment occurred with just under two minutes remaining in the game. Davis was seen grabbing his left hand, clearly in pain, prompting the Mavericks to call a timeout. Shortly after, the 34-year-old star headed straight to the locker room.

Following the game, head coach Jason Kidd addressed Davis’ exit and confirmed the issue involved his left hand.

“He hurt his left hand. That’s all we had,” Kidd said, according to Grant Afseth of Dallas Hoops Journal.

No further details were provided, as Kidd noted that Davis would need additional testing to determine the severity of the injury. The team is expected to offer a clearer update once results are available.

The timing is unfortunate for Dallas, as this marked Davis’ fourth straight appearance after returning from an adductor injury that sidelined him for two games late in December. While he had appeared fully recovered from that issue, the latest setback now puts his availability back into question.

Given the visible pain Davis showed before leaving the floor on Thursday, there is concern he could miss additional time. His status for Saturday’s matchup against the Chicago Bulls remains uncertain as the Mavericks await further evaluation.
