Josh Allen In Tears After Bills’ Loss to Broncos; NFL Fans Split

Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen

Josh Allen’s season ended the same way it has too often in Buffalo: with heartbreak.

The Buffalo Bills were eliminated from the NFL playoffs on Saturday night after a 33-30 overtime loss to the Denver Broncos in the divisional round, a back-and-forth clash that ultimately came down to late mistakes and missed chances.

Denver walked away with a spot in the AFC Championship Game, while the Bills were left to process another painful exit.

Allen put up big numbers, completing 25 of 39 passes for 283 yards and three touchdowns. He also rushed for 66 yards on 12 carries. But the stat line came with costly errors, as the reigning MVP threw two interceptions and fumbled twice in a game where every possession mattered.

Afterward, the four-time Pro Bowl quarterback faced reporters and struggled to hold himself together. Allen became emotional as he took responsibility for the loss, fighting back tears during his postgame comments.

“It’s extremely difficult,” Allen said, per Matt Parrino of Syracuse.com. “I feel like I let my teammates down tonight. Missed opportunities throughout the game. It’s been a long season. I hate how it ended and that’s going to stick with me for a long time.”

Allen didn’t shy away from the turning points.

“You can’t win with five turnovers,” he added. “I fumbled twice, threw two picks. When you shoot yourself in the foot like that you don’t deserve to win football games.”

He later apologized to both his teammates and the Bills Mafia.

“I love my teammates,” Allen said. “I’m extremely sorry and disappointed in how this ended.”

Josh Allen’s Emotional Reaction Splits Fans

While Allen’s emotion resonated with many, the reaction online was split, and at times ruthless. Some fans called for empathy, suggesting the quarterback shouldn’t have been thrust in front of microphones so quickly.

“He should not have to go out there until he has a chance to recover from his emotions,” one fan wrote.

Others rallied behind him.

“That’s my QB1. I would go through a wall for him. Integrity, passion, drive. Good run, Josh and Co,” another posted.

Not everyone was forgiving.

“Cry me a river,” one reaction read.

Another comment pointed out the double standard often seen in NFL discourse: “I have zero sympathy for him because if this was Lamar Jackson omg nfl fans would be ready to lynch him.”

Some simply summed it up bluntly: “Pretty obvious what went wrong.”

Still, plenty expressed disappointment without piling on.

“Damn, Josh wasn’t his best today but this just sucks to see,” one fan said. “What an absolute stud.”

The loss marks Buffalo’s fourth divisional-round exit in the past five seasons. Under Allen, the Bills have reached the playoffs seven straight years, including two trips to the AFC Championship Game. However, they have yet to make a Super Bowl appearance with Allen as QB.

For Allen, despite a historic year, he’s left with plenty of uncertainty.
