Anthony Santander announced bad news for the Toronto Blue Jays after his recent injury. The slugger declined his qualifying offer with the Baltimore Orioles during his free agency. Yet, he’s never been healthy after moving north of the border.
Toronto was pleased to offer the outfielder a five-year $92.5 million deal. However, he was limited to playing time due to injuries. Failing to play saw a drastic dip in his numbers. Fans considered the deal to be a bad one.
The Blue Jays went on to the World Series without Santander. To make things worse, his left shoulder flared up during this offseason, leading to a labral surgery. That said, the Blue Jays will not see Anthony Santander in action for the next five or six months.

Santander’s injury brought a lot of criticism. Fans were unhappy with his latest injury as they criticized him on social media for his shoulder injury.
Anthony Santander Hits Back With Bold Response
Santander was naturally upset with the trolling and criticism. The slugger hit back with a bold response, stating that injuries are out of his control.
“It’s not easy to deal with something like this. I mean injuries, things that you cannot control, right? Obviously, me as a ball player, coming here to a new team, signing my contract, I want to be there with the guys every day,” Anthony Santander said.
“Unfortunately, things happen. They’re not under your control. Some people think differently, but I know who I am. I know I’m trying my best to be on the field with my teammates.” Santander continued.

The All-Star further stated that the injury just didn’t occur until the end of the offseason. It’s tough luck, Santander and Blue Jays fans. Toronto will carry on without the outfielder as they look forward to another World Series run.
“It’s nobody’s fault. It just didn’t show up. When they opened it up, they could see that actually I needed (surgery). They didn’t know why the MRI didn’t show how bad it was.”
The Blue Jays made several changes to their team during the offseason. Hopefully, Anthony Santander might be able to return after the All-Star break.
