Whether it’s LeBron James’ son Bronny or any other star, Stephen A. Smith holds nothing back. Smith is known for calling out people. He recently destroyed the Los Angeles Lakers for their fantasy.
The Lakers made significant changes to the team. They brought in Luka Doncic to play alongside LeBron James. But they were still lurking around trying to bring in Giannis Antetokounmpo. The Lakers’ fantasy was to pair Doncic and Antetokounmpo.
Stephen A. Smith slammed the franchise in a recent episode on “First Take.” Smith broke down the team’s cap situation. He pointed out their first-round picks through the next eight years. Still, the analyst ruled out any chance of landing both Doncic and Antetokounmpo.
“I don’t believe it’s realistic. I mean, right now, from a cap perspective, without LeBron and without Rui Hachimura, you’d have about 51 million in cap space. Again, the first three first-round picks that you brought up, 2026, 2031, 2033. Those would be the three first-round picks that they could give up in order for it. I don’t think there’s any shot in hell that this happens,” Stephen A. Smith said.
The Bucks wanted to have a look at Giannis Antetokounmpo’s market. They received several offers, but never parted ways. The Lakers were reportedly ready to surrender their first-round picks, but things didn’t work out.
Stephen A. Smith Urges That Ben Simmons Needs To Be Arrested
Smith went off on Ben Simmons, calling him the biggest thief in the NBA. This comes after the analyst accused the player of stealing $177.2 million from the Philadelphia 76ers after they gave him an extension.
Simmons had limited time on the court after playing less than 170 games with the team. Injuries were a part of his decline, but Stephen A. Smith thinks that his deal was a steal and lashed out at him.
“As long as ‘First Take’ is in existence, Ben Simmons will catch strays. I ain’t apologizing for it to a damn soul. There is no bigger thief in the history of the NBA than that man. If Ben Simmons runs near a basketball arena, he should be arrested,” Stephen A. Smith said.
Ben Simmons is sure to catch more from Smith in future episodes on First Take. As for his Lakers comment, Smith might be right after all.
