Kawhi Leonard’s trade chatter seems to be never-ending. The NBA star was rumored to part ways with the Los Angeles Clippers, even before the trade deadline. However, he still remains on the team for now.
Leonard’s 2025-26 season has been excellent. Yet, many speculate that he could be on his way soon. NBA insider Jake Fischer thinks that the offseason will be the end for Kawhi Leonard’s time with the team. It all started when the franchise made a move on James Harden and Ivica Zubac.
“I think that (Zubac) trade might have been the most consequential deal of the deadline. It all but ended a Clippers era when combined with the James Harden-to-Cleveland trade before it and has plenty of rival executives … wondering if Kawhi Leonard’s time there could come to an end this summer via yet another trade,” Fisher wrote.
While a trade can be possible, it’s hard to say how things will work out for the Clippers. The franchise is currently at the 10th position in the Western Conference and things are not going well as is.
Kawhi Leonard Ankle Injury Puts The Clippers In A Tough Spot
The Clippers failed to defeat the Magic, but Leonard’s recent ankle sprain was more troubling than the defeat. Despite his struggle, Leonard performed well, but he addressed his ankle issue after the game. That’s the reason why he left the Lakes’ game on Friday.
Kawhi Leonard stated that he was left with only two minutes while playing against the Lakers. He further said it was wise to step out of the game, rather than risking it all.
“I only had two minutes left in the game to play anyways. Just been a lingering injury. They said if it didn’t loosen up just let them know. I told medical I’d rather play whatever minutes I played tonight than try to blow it out in the last two minutes I had left. So just went to the back, made sure everything was right, and got treatment,” Leonard said.
Without Leonard the Clippers are going to be in a fix. They can’t risk losing him. As for as the trade rumors, it’s hard not to put them aside.
