“Gotta Eat Liquids for 7 Days”: Jake Paul Announces Surgery for His Broken Jaw

YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul speaks out after his loss to Anthony Joshua.

Jake Paul shared an update on his health condition following his knockout loss to Anthony Joshua on Friday, revealing that he has undergone surgery to repair his broken jaw.

The YouTuber-turned-boxer took to X to share the news with fans, confirming that the procedure was successful and thanking the medical staff who assisted him through the process.

“Just got out of surgery. Everything went smooth. Thanks for all the love. Lots of pain and stiffness. Gotta eat liquids for 7 days,” Paul wrote. “S/o to the amazing team at Miami University Hospital. Everyone was so gracious and caring.”

For those not in the know, Paul confirmed hours after the fight that he suffered a double broken jaw as a result of Joshua’s sixth-round knockout punch. According to the 28-year-old, doctors placed two titanium plates on each side of his jaw, and he also had several teeth removed during the procedure.

Despite the seriousness of the injury, Paul appeared to remain in good spirits, expressing gratitude for the support he has received since the fight. His update also confirmed earlier speculation following the bout, as many fans noticed the damage done after Joshua landed the decisive right hand. Videos circulating after the fight showed the teeth on Paul’s left side awkwardly bent.

Jake Paul Loses to Anthony Joshua

The loss dropped Paul to a 12-2 record in his pro boxing career. Aside from the KO defeat to Joshua, his only other loss came against Tommy Fury.

As for Joshua, he improved to 29-4 in his career with 26 knockouts, further solidifying his reputation as one of boxing’s most powerful punchers.

While it remains unknown how long Paul will be sidelined, his latest update suggests that recovery will take time. After all, considering how violent boxing is, he can’t risk going back to training and fighting and potentially hurt his jaw again when it’s not yet fully recovered.

For now, Paul’s focus is on his healing, with the boxer facing at least a week on a liquid-only diet as he begins the recovery process.
