“Somebody Getting Sued”: NFL Fans React After DK Metcalf Hits Fan During Steelers-Lions Game

Pittsburgh Steelers WR DK Metcalf punches a Detroit Lions fan.

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver DK Metcalf is in hot water after his heated confrontation with a fan was caught on camera during the second quarter of their game against the Detroit Lions.

In the second quarter of the Steelers’ 29-24 win over the Lions at Ford Field, Metcalf was seen approaching a fan wearing a blue wig and leaning over the railing in the front row. It was initially unknown what the fan said, but what was clear was that Metcalf grabbed the fan by the shirt and then hit him in the face.

According to reports after the game, the fan said he called Metcalf by his government name, which he believes irked the Steelers wideout and led to the altercation, per the Detroit Free Press.

NFL Fans Call for DK Metcalf’s Punishment

Metcalf was not removed from the game because no flag was thrown, so the officials couldn’t disqualify him. However, the league is expected to review the incident and could punish the Steelers star, potentially with a fine or suspension since the NFL has a strict policy on violence.

Naturally, as video of the confrontation spread online, fans reacted strongly to Metcalf’s actions. In a new video showing an alternate angle of Metcalf’s punch, many criticized the two-time Pro Bowler and emphasized that he could face legal troubles.

“Classless act, needs to be benched for the season,” a commenter wrote. Another one said, “Somebody getting sued lol.”

“What a terrible look for DK. I can’t believe some random dude in a blue wig can get that much under his skin,” a critic shared.

“Since when can you physically assault someone over words. DK better be hoping this dude doesn’t lawyer up,” a poster remarked.

A fifth social media user bluntly stated, “He assaulted the fan.”

Metcalf finished with four receptions for 42 yards to help the Steelers improve to 9-6. Unfortunately, his actions have overshadowed the win and put a question mark on his availability going forward.
