Chiefs TE Travis Kelce Loses Spot in NFL History

Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce

Travis Kelce is undoubtedly one of the greatest tight ends to ever play in the NFL. He’s fifth when it comes to the most touchdowns by a TE in NFL history with 85 and third when it comes to receptions for any player at his position with 1,063.

The Kansas City Chiefs star is also a three-time Super Bowl champion and a 10-time Pro Bowler, further highlighting how successful he is in the NFL, be it individually or with his team.

It’s worth noting that Kelce holds several Chiefs records, including the most career total touchdowns in franchise history. He surpassed running back Priest Holmes for the said record.

On Sunday, however, Kelce lost his spot in one historic NFL list after Las Vegas Raiders tight end Brock Bowers delivered another big performance. Bowers recorded four receptions for 63 yards and two touchdowns in their 31-14 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers.

One of Bowers’ highlight plays came in the first quarter, when he completed a 27-yard catch off a Geno Smith pass. The play allowed him to surpass both Kelce and Kyle Pitts Sr. for the fourth-most receptions of 20-plus yards by a tight end in their first 26 career games.

Kelce and Pitts had 21 each, while Bowers now has 22.

Bowers is one of the brightest young tight ends in the game today, so it’s not surprising to see him surpass Kelce in some NFL lists.

Still, Bowers has a lot of work to do to catch up with Kelce and what he has accomplished in his career.
