Luka Doncic Announces Personal News Amid Temporary Leave From Lakers

Los Angeles Lakers star Luka Doncic looks on before a game.

Luka Doncic has been the Los Angeles Lakers’ best player this 2025-26 season. He’s leading the team in points (25.3), rebounds (8.9) and assists (8.9), while ranking second in steals (1.6) and blocks (0.6).

However, Doncic has been out of the lineup for the Lakers in their last two games. The Purple and Gold beat the Toronto Raptors 123-120 in the previous game without him, but they lost to the Boston Celtics 126-105 on Friday.

Doncic was ruled out for both games due to personal reasons, although initial details of his absence were not clear. There have been reports, however, that he left California and went back to Slovenia for the birth of his second child with his fiancée, Anamaria Goltes.

On Saturday morning, the Lakers guard confirmed the news: his future wife has given birth to a baby girl, whom they named Olivia.

Doncic posted a photo of his new baby girl, although he hid her face for privacy. He did announce the name of the kid, sparking a wave of congratulatory messages.

“Congrats,” a commenter wrote. Another one said, “Congratulations to @anamariagoltes @lukadoncic and their family. May this new journey be filled with joy, peace, and countless beautiful memories. The world may know him as a superstar—but you, Olivia, will know him simply as Dad.”

“Congrats Luka!!!!!!!!!!” a hyped supporter added.

“Blessings!!” a supporter remarked.

A fifth fan stated, “Congrats bro a baby girl is a blessing.”

It remains to be seen when Doncic will be back for the Lakers, but sure enough, L.A. is not rushing him back and is giving him enough time to enjoy being a father of two. Doncic and Goltes also have a two-year-old daughter named Gabriela.
